Your MS, Your Plans for the Future: Is PONVORY ® Right for You?

Your MS is as unique as you are, which is why it’s so important to talk to your healthcare provider about a disease-modifying therapy—or DMT—that can help meet your treatment goals.

Whether you’re newly diagnosed and starting treatment or are interested in switching your MS medication, with so many available treatment options, it’s important that you and your healthcare provider come up with a treatment plan that helps fit your lifestyle and your needs.

PONVORY® is the first and only FDA-approved oral DMT that has been studied against an established oral comparator.

The results of a clinical study comparing PONVORY® to a proven oral treatment that lasted about 2 years showed that PONVORY® was superior at reducing the number of relapses and lesions vs a proven oral therapy.

Additionally, the clinical study that lasted about 2 years also found there was no disability progression in approximately 90% of people taking PONVORY® over 2 years, similar to its comparator.

It’s also important to understand the potential side effects of PONVORY® to determine if it’s an appropriate treatment for you. The most common side effects of PONVORY® include upper respiratory tract infections, elevated liver enzymes (abnormal liver tests), and high blood pressure. These are not all of the possible side effects of PONVORY®.

While these are the most common side effects, there are other serious potential side effects of PONVORY®.

As your needs change over time, PONVORY® may allow for flexibility in your treatment plan to help achieve your future health goals.

How does it work? The exact way PONVORY® works in MS is unknown, but it is believed to work by reducing the number of immune cells, called lymphocytes, in the blood. This may keep lymphocytes out of the central nervous system—or CNS—where they could cause damage.

PONVORY® does not destroy your immune cells—lymphocytes—so if you have to pause treatment, your immune system goes back to where it was prior to starting PONVORY®.

In fact, when thinking about your plans for the future, it’s important to know that PONVORY® leaves your body about 7 days after stopping treatment. This may be a consideration when discussing family planning with your healthcare professional or if you need to address other health concerns.

If you are a woman who can become pregnant, you should use effective birth control during your treatment with PONVORY® and for 1 week after you stop taking PONVORY®. Talk to your healthcare professional about what method of birth control is right for you during this time. PONVORY® may harm your unborn baby. Tell your healthcare professional right away if you do become pregnant while taking PONVORY® or within 1 week after you stop taking PONVORY®.

Do not stop PONVORY® without talking to your healthcare professional first. When PONVORY® is stopped, symptoms of multiple sclerosis may return and become worse compared with before or during treatment. Always talk to your healthcare professional before you stop taking PONVORY® for any reason. Tell your healthcare professional if you have worsening symptoms of multiple sclerosis after stopping PONVORY®.

It’s also important to keep in mind that disease activity can recur when you discontinue treatment, so do not discontinue any disease-modifying therapy without having a conversation with your healthcare provider first.

Everyone’s experience with MS is unique, so it is important that you talk to your healthcare provider about your treatment goals.

Managing MS: Proven Results with PONVORY®

Living with relapsing MS adds to the unpredictability of life. That’s why managing your MS with a disease-modifying therapy—or DMT—that was proven in a clinical study to effectively help reduce relapses, the number of new or enlarging lesions, and slow disability progression is so important.

With over a decade of cumulative data across multiple clinical trials, PONVORY® was proven effective.

PONVORY® is the first and only FDA-approved oral DMT that has been studied against an established oral comparator.

In the clinical study lasting about 2 years, PONVORY® proved superior at reducing the number of relapses and the number of new or enlarging brain lesions compared to an established oral therapy.

Patients on PONVORY® had 30.5%—almost 31%—reduction in relapses vs those patients that were on Aubagio®. So, less attacks, less relapses.

PONVORY® also reduced the number of new or enlarging brain lesions. Patients that were on PONVORY® had 59% less lesions on the brain than those patients who were on proven oral therapy. PONVORY® led to a 56% reduction in the number of new or enlarging T2 lesions compared to a proven oral therapy.

In addition to reducing the number of new or enlarging lesions, PONVORY® showed no disability progression in most patients. The clinical study that lasted about 2 years found there was no disability progression in approximately 90% of people taking PONVORY® over 2 years, similar to its comparator.

Everyone experiences MS differently, so talk to your healthcare provider about your treatment goals and the best option for you.
